Kids at Bristol Children’s Hospital design new bike helmets

By Elliot Sturge  Friday Aug 11, 2017

A team from Cheddar-based bike company Kiddimoto have visited Bristol Royal Hospital for Children to raise awareness of the importance of wearing bicycle helmets, and to launch a competition for children to design their own helmet.

The team hosted a playday at the hospital, and donated bikes, scooters, helmets, and other equipment to the hospital, to encourage children to take up cycling and to do it safely.

They also launched a design competition for children aged 5-15. The winning design will be made into a reality by the Kiddimoto team, and £5 from each sale of these helmets across the globe will be donated supported by local hospital charity Above and Beyond. The money will make a real difference to the 88,000 patients treated at Bristol Children’s Hospital each year.

Kiddimoto’s founder, Simon Booth, said: “We are so pleased to be working with Above & Beyond as they do some incredible work in the hospitals in Bristol. This partnership gives us an opportunity to give something back to the community and also make a real difference by highlighting the importance of bike safety. We’re really looking forward to seeing the helmet designs that the kids come up with and to supporting the Bristol Royal Hospital for Children via Above & Beyond.”

The design competition is open to entries until August 31. Submit yours using the collection box at the reception of Bristol Royal Hospital for Children or by email to info@kiddimoto.co.uk.
