A container ship measuring more than 300 metres in length has become the largest vessel to ever visit Bristol.
MSC Loretta arrived into Royal Portbury Dock to be unloaded before being reloaded with containers for export and sailing onwards to Antwerp in Belgium.
The 303.94m-long ship sails under the Panama flag at an average speed of 13 knots.

Bristol Port Company director of containers, James Stangroom, said: “Despite the challenging economic climate, the MSC container service remains highly successful with imports coming in from around the globe.
“A great performance… from our Marine and Operational colleagues, in freezing conditions, to ensure the safe docking and discharge operation of the MSC Loretta.”

MSC operates more than 700 vessels worldwide, serving more than 250 routes and using 520 ports across the globe.
The business was founded in 1970 as a single vessel operator and has since evolved to become one of the world’s leading container shipping lines.
At 399.99m, the MSC Tessa is the longest container ship in the world, only a few centimetres longer than the Ever Given which infamously ran aground in the Suez Canal in 2021.
