By Max Story  Monday Oct 21, 2024

Bristol’s Library of Things has announced that it will open up a third site in the city after a successful fundraiser.

Share Bristol’s new branch will open in Frenchay after its crowdfunding campaign has so far raised more than £12,000.

The Library of Things is an initiative that follows the format of a library, except instead of borrowing books, you borrow other items such as tents, bunting, or power tools.

Share Bristol, a charity that runs the Library of Things, already operates one location in Kingswood and one in Bedminster.

They have said that their goals is to empower people, strengthen communities, and to reduce waste by lessening the need to buy new items.

The new Frenchay site will have parking for those who want to collect or drop off larger items, as well as being accessible by public transport.

This new opening comes as the popularity of these libraries is increasing.

Share Bristol reported that as of September 2024, the two libraries had a combined 1,700 items to be borrowed between the 700 households who are paying members of the scheme.
