Lido and gardens planned for Redcliffe Wharf

By Martin Booth  Thursday Nov 20, 2014

Ambitious plans have been revealed for Redcliffe Gardens and Lido on what is now the unloved Redcliffe Wharf.

The aim is to create a “waterside village green” with:

  • a beach
  • a restaurant
  • entertainment space
  • markets
  • a theatre
  • artists in residence
  • “human-powered cinema”
  • an eco/wellness spa

Redcliffe Wharf could be transformed into “a laboratory of sustainable ideas”.

It also looks like it could be a whole load of fun, especially with artist impressions showing a swimming pool on a barge moored on the Floating Harbour.

No funding is yet in place for the plans, but it is hoped that businesses will be able to contribute ideas and technology for free, with the project showcasing Bristol’s environmental credentials during next year’s European Green Capital year.
