Free walking tours of Bristol launched
A Bristol globetrotter is set to launch a twice-daily free walking tour of Bristol for tourists and residents, inspired by the graciousness of the many locals he met on his travels around the world.
Putting much of his enjoyment on solo trips down to the advice and insight of those who lived in the area, upon his return James decided to set up his own business, offering free-of-charge guided tours of sights and landmarks for anyone interested in learning more about the history, culture and lifestyle of Bristol.
The first tour will leave from the Victoria Rooms at the bottom of Whiteladies Road on February 1, and will run every day throughout the year at 10.30am and 2.30pm come rain or shine.
is needed now More than ever
James will operate his tours on a turn-up-on-the-day, pay-what-you-think basis in order to encourage everyone to learn more about the city without the worry of cost or timings, and claims the walk has something for everyone, whether they be a Bristol local or a tourist.
The three-mile tour will cover points of interest such as the Suspension Bridge, Bristol Cathedral, the ss Great Britain, Cary Grant’s former hangouts and the site where Napoleon’s wife went to school. Ending at the harbourside, the walk promises anecdotes and stories about Bristol residents past and present, as well as the uncovering of some hidden cultural jewels.
