By Will Calvert  Wednesday Nov 3, 2021

A man has suffered a gunshot wound to his leg in what police believe to be a “targeted” shooting.

Officers were called to Courtenay Crescent in Knowle at around 8pm on Tuesday night following reports of a big fight.

Later in the evening, a 34-year-old man turned up at hospital with a gunshot wound in his leg. Police have said his injuries are not fatal and they believe the incident involved people who knew each other.

Officers have arrested a 32-year-old man on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm and he remains in custody.

Inspector Chris Green, of the Broadbury Road neighbourhood policing team, said: “This is a concerning incident in which a man has been shot in the leg. Thankfully, the injuries he suffered are not life-threatening.

“At this time we believe this to be a targeted incident involving people known to each other.”

Avon & Somerset police have launched an investigation into the incident and are reviewing CCTV from the area as well as making house to house enquiries.

The force has said there will be an increased police presence in coming days around the area the shooting took place.
