Massive Attack endorse Green candidate Carla Denyer in Bristol Central

By Martin Booth  Monday Jun 3, 2024

Massive Attack have endorsed Green Party co-leader Carla Denyer in Bristol Central.

Writing on X, the band said that the general election on July 4 “is an opportunity for Bristol to consolidate its green reputation by electing an MP who is resolutely focused on climate action and unambiguous on the matter of genocide in Gaza”.

“Carla Denyer is that candidate.”

Massive Attack’s endorsement came on the same day as the first polling projection by YouGov since the general election was called predicted that Denyer would win the new costituency, beating shadow cabinet member Thangam Debbonaire into second place.

YouGov’s projection – which uses survey data from almost 60,000 respondents – is that Keir Starmer will be heading to Downing Street with a majority of 194 seats – the biggest for a century.
