More than 70 fully electric buses coming soon to Bristol
More than 70 fully electric buses will be coming soon to Bristol as well as the electrification of a bus depot.
The 74 electric buses will replace the 8 to Temple Meads, the 24 to Southmead Hospital, the 70 to Hengrove, the 72 to Frenchay, the 73 to Bradley Stoke, and the 75 and 76 routes to Cribbs Causeway.
Money from First Bus and the West of England Combined Authority will also be used to fully electrify First’s Hengrove depot including installing the power charging and infrastructure to handle the introduction of zero-emission buses.

First will be investing £37m alongside £6.6m from WECA in an aim to tackle poor air quality and encourage more people to travel by bus.
First West of England managing director, Doug Claringbold, said: “This is a real landmark moment for the West of England, as we secure our first electric buses in the region, demonstrating our ongoing commitment towards a zero-emissions bus fleet by 2035.
“We’re delighted that our customers will benefit from over £37m that we as a company are investing in this upgrade to our buses and transforming the Hengrove depot.
“We’ve worked tirelessly with the West of England Mayoral Combined Authority (sic) to get to this point, and we cannot wait to get these vehicles on the road.”
West of England mayor, Dan Norris, added: “We’re investing to ensure that the West has a bus fleet to be proud of – one that’s better for passengers, and for our planet, too.”
