‘Moving’ vigil held for three young children who died in Sea Mills
Communities across Bristol came together on Friday night to mourn the loss of three children who tragically lost their lives in Sea Mills.
Fares Bash, seven, three-year-old Joury Bash and nine-month-old Mohammed Bash were found dead in their home in the early hours of Sunday morning.
A 42-year-old woman arrested at the scene remains in hospital due to injuries she sustained. Her condition is not life-threatening and she remains in police custody.

The tragic incident has sent shockwaves through the close knit local community, who have since come together to arrange spaces for families to grieve and work to provide support to those affected.
On Friday, a minute’s silence was held to remember Fares, Joury and Mohammed and candles and flowers were placed at the Addison Oak in Sea Mills, planted in 1919 at the start of the development of the area.
The vigil was organised by a local resident, Jo-Jo Cowley, and was attended by hundreds of people, including the area’s local MP, Darren Jones, who represents Bristol North West.
In an earlier Facebook post to organise the event, Jo-Jo said: “Three innocent lives have been taken – three children who had their whole lives ahead of them, cut so short.
“As someone who lives just around the corner to where this happened, it is truly heartbreaking and unimaginable – a place I have called home for 25 years (with) a great sense of community. I hope Sea Mills can come together and the surrounding communities next Friday.”
Earlier in the day, the police provided an update on the cause of three children’s death.
Chief inspector Hayward-Melen said: “Earlier today, the children’s next of kin completed a formal identification process, and we can confirm the children as seven-year-old Fares Bash, three-year-old Joury Bash and nine-month-old Mohammed Bash. They were all siblings.
“The loss of such young children, who had their whole lives ahead of them, is truly heartbreaking and our thoughts remain with their family and everyone affected by this tragedy. Our specialist liaison officers will continue to provide their next of kin with any help and support they need.
“Over the past few days, forensic post-mortem examinations have been carried out on the children. We can now confirm the cause of death for each child was knife injuries.”
The chief inspector said the murder investigation, led by the major crime investigation team, is “progressing at pace” and that officers are carrying out “comprehensive enquiries to establish the events which led to this devastating loss of life”.
