Ms Denyer goes to Westminster

By Martin Booth  Tuesday Jul 9, 2024

Carla Denyer was waved off by well-wishers on her way to Westminster from Bristol.

The newly elected Green Party MP for Bristol Central travelled to Paddington from Clifton Down via Temple Meads.

At Temple Meads, a group of Greens ensured that their co-leader had a memorable send-off to the capital.

When in Westminster, Denyer joined up with her three fellow Green MPs, tweeting that it was “a historic moment”.

Denyer also revealed that more than 3,000 people have joined the Green Party since the general election.

The Greens have also published ten steps they want the new Labour government to take in their first 100 days “to show they’re serious about changing Britain”.

These include settling the pay deal with junior doctors, removing the two-child benefit cap, and bringing criminal charges against water companies for persistent discharge of sewage into seas and rivers.
