New charity helps inspire children to pursue a career in science
Science Creates Outreach is preparing to open the doors to its new ‘Learning Lab’ – a purpose-built space that puts school students at the heart of a working science incubator
The new Bristol-based charity recently launched, with the aim of encouraging more young people to explore careers in science.
Part of the Science Creates and University of Bristol deep-tech hub on Midland Road in St Philip’s, Science Creates Outreach is a new initiative designed to give primary and secondary school students a chance to experience what it’s like working in a real science lab.
is needed now More than ever
Science Creates Outreach’s first fundraising event saw Bristol West MP Thangam Debbonaire declare the charity officially open in a ribbon-cutting ceremony.
Science Creates Outreach chief exec, Charlie Proctor, said: “What’s so unique about our programme is that it doesn’t provide a ‘childish’ version of a science lab.
“This is a real, working incubator where groundbreaking science is happening every single day.
“It’s really exciting that children get to experience this in such a hands-on capacity.”
