New dog show to be held in south Bristol
A new dog show is to be held in south Bristol to bring the community together “over the love of dogs”.
The Knowle West Dog Show will take place for the first time later in 2023, being held outdoors at Knowle West Health Park on Downton Road.
Organised by Emma Smallwood, the community connector at Knowle West Health Park, she hopes the event on September 16 will be a fun day for the community to come along and show off their dogs.
is needed now More than ever
“There are a lot of people in Knowle West with dogs. It’s a community of dog lovers,” said Emma, explaining why she has decided to organise the event.

Emma, a dog owner herself, has already recruited a local dog groomer to be one of the judges for the show, and she is hoping to get a local celebrity to be another. She is also looking for local businesses to sponsor the event.
“We’re not taking it super seriously, so the categories will be things like ‘waggiest tail’ and ‘cheekiest face’,” she added.
“I don’t want it to be an ultra competitive thing, it’s more about having fun and celebrating how lovely dogs are.
“It’ll be a way of meeting people they’ve not before, making friends over the love of dogs.”
