New poll shows Greens ahead in Bristol Central
A new poll shows that Green Party co-leader Carla Denyer is nine points ahead of Labour’s Thangam Debbonaire in Bristol Central with just two days to go until the general election.
The survey – by an independent organisation but commissioned by the Green Party – has the Greens on 49 per cent of the vote and Labour on 40 per cent.
According to the results below (which don’t add up to 100), Reform polled at 15 per cent, well ahead of the Tories on six per cent, with the Lib Dems in fifth place with three per cent.
is needed now More than ever
The poll of 400 respondents was conducted by WeThink between June 25 and July 1.
It must be noted that as well as the survey being commissioned by the Green Party, its outcome excludes the 18 per cent of people answering ‘don’t know’ as their voting intention, with 57 per cent of those taking part aged under 34.

Denyer said: “The poll is welcome, but it is votes on the day that count.
“We won’t win unless we convince people that we need more Green MPs in parliament to force the incoming Labour government to be bolder and more ambitious.
“One more or less Labour MP won’t make that difference. Voting Green will.”

On Tuesday, Denyer’s Labour opponent, incumbent MP Thangam Debbonaire, was joined on the campaign trail by Paul Boateng.
Boateng is a University of Bristol graduate and former MP, who became the UK’s first Black cabinet member under Tony Blair and now sits in the House of Lords.
Speaking at Bristol24/7’s hustings at the Bristol Beacon on Monday evening, Debbonaire said that she is “so proud of Bristol. I’m so proud to call it my home.”
Debbonaire said: “This country as well as this city is crying out for change. And we can get change if we have a change of government…
“I hope that on Thursday, if you re-elect me as your MP, you’ll be proud to have an MP who is at the heart of the Labour government, if we elect a Labour government across the country.”
