New train station next to future Bristol Arena to open in 2026
Metro mayor Dan Norris has confirmed that a multi-billion pound investment by YTL means that North Filton railway station will now definitely open in 2026.
The station will be located next to the proposed YTL Bristol Arena within the former Brabazon hangars on the edge of the former Filton Airfield.
But North Filton – which could yet be renamed Brabazon – will initially only be served by an hourly service between Temple Meads and Henbury.

Norris, also the MP for North East Somerset & Hanham, is being forced to stand down as metro mayor in May due to new rules about Labour MPs being unable to have multiple jobs.
He said: “My Mayoral Combined Authority supports building homes in the right place with the right infrastructure.
“The new train station will be crucial for helping people get to the UK’s third largest arena and get around the West of England.”
