Open letter to the residents of Bristol North East
Dear Bristol North East constituent,
I wanted to personally write to you and say that it has been an honour to be selected as the parliamentary candidate for Bristol North East.
These past few months have been one of the most wondrous experiences in my life. I have loved getting to know all the residents and the neighbourhoods in our constituency. I have had the pleasure to meet the true heartbeat of our country and I will be forever grateful for your kindness, openness and truthfulness.
is needed now More than ever
I will not pretend that everything is ok, because it is not, but what I can say, along with you, is that I want change and change for Bristol is very different from change nationally.
A thing to know about me is that I am not a career politician, I am a business woman and my core values are simple… transparency, honesty, integrity, and accountability.
This is my first time running in politics here in the UK and I decided to stand because I was embarrassed by the constant fighting amongst the political parties. The constant deflecting and blaming the other one for all the problems. All 650 MPs are responsible for the inner workings of our country – the successes and failures. We must work together to bring the best policies to the people. No one should hold power and/or have a supermajority, our only goal should be representing the voices of our constituency, Bristol North East, and we must pick the candidate who is right for our constituency.
I am sorry that I have not been able to knock on every door here in Bristol North East. I wish I had more time to get to know everyone, but if you would like to personally speak with me, please do email me and/or give me a ring. I am happy to stop by and discuss what is important to you and what I stand for.
People always ask me why I would put my head above the parapet to stand for the Conservative Party at this time? Well the answer is simple, I don’t run when things get tough. I was raised to stand by what I believe, even if it is not always the popular choice. I will not abandon the core principles for which I believe in. Instead of destroying what I believe in, I want to stand to help REFORM the government and the party to bring our core principles to the heart of our citizens.
I will not make false promises to win your vote, but I can be honest with you on what I can do … and here is what I can do:
I promise to always let you know the full circumstances of the situation and what I am able to do to help and the choices available to us.
I will sit down with the key community groups post election and discuss the pressing matters, prioritise them with the community and work on a strategy to fight for those changes at Westminster.
I will ensure the council are doing their jobs, properly communicating the benefits available to the local constituents and making sure that they are not mismanaging funding.
I will look for opportunities to bring new jobs, enterprise and investment to our constituency.
I will work with our national banks to push for more small business loans and grants to ensure that our high streets are growing and servicing our community to the highest level.
I will ensure that those living with disabilities have access to the same quality of life that we all do.
I will continue to manage immigration into our country, so that we can ensure that our infrastructure and support are in place for all citizens and visa holders.
I will make sure that our ageing population is well looked after, as well as those in the care industry.
I will make sure that a dream of owning a home isn’t destroyed by unfair restrictions put on self-employed people when trying to secure mortgages.
I will make sure that new builds offer a percentage of homes within the price range based on the average salaries in our constituency.
I love this country. I chose to build my life here. I chose to raise my family here. I chose to build my company here and no matter how hard things get, I will never leave. This is my home. It is where my grandfather comes from. Where my husband comes from. Where my children come from. I could not be more proud to be British and I will stay here and fight for what is right.
This is our country. Let’s fight for it.
No matter what happens on the 4th, let’s raise a glass to England for I know I will never stop fighting for her.
Your most humble servant,
Rose Hulse for Bristol North East
