Opening date revealed for Ashley Down railway station
The long-awaited opening date has been revealed for Ashley Down station.
After waiting for almost a century for a new station, Bristol will soon have two that will open just over 12 months apart.
Work started in March 2023 to build the new Ashley Down station close to the site of the former Ashley Down station.
is needed now More than ever
The new station will have two platforms and is part of the wider MetroWest Phase 2 project.
Ashley Down will eventually be joined by two more new stations at North Filton (next to the future YTL Arena Bristol) and Henbury, to be served by a new hourly service between Temple Meads and Henbury.
The opening of the new station means that the section of Concorde Way between St Werburgh’s and Ashley Down will also be reopened for pedestrians and cyclists.

The opening date of Ashley Down on September 28 was quietly revealed with a notice published on the Network Rail website.
Its opening is likely to attract train enthusiasts from across the UK including Geoff Marshall, a YouTuber who has visited every railway station across the UK and was last in Bristol for the opening of the Portway Park & Ride in August 2023.
