Dozens of cars have tyres deflated
The tyres of dozens of cars have been deflated in Clifton, with an environmental activist group claiming to have “disarmed” the 50 vehicles.
The Tyre Extinguishers say their aim is to “make it impossible to own an SUV in the UK’s urban areas”.
On their website, the campaign group said: “We want to live in towns and cities with clean air and safe streets.”

The Tyre Extinguishers wrote on Twitter: “On Tuesday evening, Tyre Extinguishers disarmed 50 SUVs in the Clifton area. Brighton, we are coming for your record.”
A spokesperson from Avon & Somerset Police said: “We are appealing for witnesses and information after multiple cars’ tyres were deflated in Bristol.
“We received reports that a number of vehicles’ tyres had been let down overnight on Tuesday 17 May on Mortimer Road in Clifton.
“A note had then been left on the windscreen of the vehicles, leading officers to believe the incident is linked to an environmental protest group. We are treating these incidents as criminal damage.
“If you saw anything suspicious or have any information which could aid the investigation, please contact us.”
