By Seun Matiluko  Saturday Nov 23, 2024

A police car crashed into a van in the early hours of Saturday morning.

The collision happened at around 12.20am on Stockwood Road in Brislington, with both police officers in the car taken to hospital but later discharged.

One witness told Bristol24/7 that the police car “had its blue lights going, but it didn’t have its siren on”.

She said that the traffic lights were red but the turning left lights were green and the police car “just ploughed into the van”.

“I don’t know if it was going too fast to stop,” she added.

Four more police cars arrived on the scene close to Brislington Park & Ride within minutes of the collision, according to the witness.

In a statement, an Avon & Somerset Police spokesperson said: “There was a collision involving a marked police car and a van in Stockwood Road, Brislington, Bristol in the early hours of this morning (Saturday November 23).

“Officers were responding to an urgent call when the collision occurred.

“The driver of the van was checked at the scene by paramedics and both police officers were taken to hospital and later discharged.

“No one is believed to have been seriously injured.”
