Police search for weapons in city centre
Police officers with metal detectors searched flowerbeds in the centre by the fountains on Monday morning.
The searches were part of an Avon & Somerset Constabulary operation to crack down on knife crime.
It also coincides with a new survey from the police & crime commissioner hoping to improve how the force responds to knife crime across the area.
is needed now More than ever
In a post on social media at the start of the week-long operation, police said that “teams will be out in your communities removing weapons from the streets, arresting offenders, checking retailers aren’t selling knives to children and educating young people on the dangers of carrying knives”.
