Post Office closed ‘due to Covid-19’

By Charlie Watts  Wednesday Dec 22, 2021

A Post Office and convenience store has had to temporarily close “due to Covid-19”.

The Melvin Square Post Office and Best-one is not set to reopen until January 1.

Delivered2u, the store’s grocery delivery service, will also not run during this period.

Sunny Patel, whose family manages the shop in Knowle West, announced its closure in a Facebook post on Tuesday night.

He wrote: “Unfortunately, we have made the difficult decision to close Best-One, Knowle due to Covid-19.

“It is our duty of care to keep our customers & staff safe.”

Patel chose not to comment further on the matter when contacted by Bristol24/7, saying the social media post “sums it up”.

The closure will no doubt cause disruption to local people over the Christmas period.

The nearest Post Offices – in Bedminster, Knowle Park and Inns Court – are all about a 20 minute walk away from the one in Melvin Square.
