Rain damage closes Bristol South Swimming Pool

By Hannah Massoudi  Friday Sep 27, 2024

Bristol South Swimming Pool has had to close its doors to the public following a leak, believed to be caused by a slipped tile in the roof of the building above the 30.5m long swimming pool.

In a Facebook post, the venue announced the immediate closure of the pool – photo: Bristol South Swimming Pool

The venue has told Bristol24/7 that currently repair workers are in to assess the damage and work on making it safe for reopening – but no news on when that might be.

Adding, that they will make an announcement on their Facebook as soon they know.

The Grade II listed building has been open since 2021, following a £200,000 programme of repairs and improvements, that included fixing leaking pipework and upgrades to the historic domed ceiling.

The last few weeks has seen days of heavy rainfall across the city, causing damage to infrastructure and travel issues with Temple Meads station recently experiencing pouring rain onto the platform.
