Redcliffe Wharf development approved

Redcliffe Wharf will become almost unrecognisable in a few years as the derelict site is transformed into a new development containing flats, restaurants, shops and offices.

Historic boat building premises will be demolished but two other buildings on the site refurbished, with the area also seeing new boat moorings, and a pedestrian and cycle link to Quaker Garden.

Following fears that residents living in the new flats might be able to complain about noise from the Thekla the other side of the Floating Harbour, it was agreed that a new sound assessment must take place so that adequate soundproofing measures can be put into place.

Councillors also raised concerns about the lack of affordable housing in the scheme but developers CDP said that three affordable homes was the maximum amount they could include in order to make the development profitable.
