By Cristina Pinuaga  Thursday Jun 13, 2024

About a dozen artists have been spotted painting on the harbour for the filming of Sky’s Landsape Artist of the Year.

The television show sees artists selected to paint plein air in front of three judges and a set of cameras for the chance to win a commission for a gallery or museum.

The painters and their artworks were protected from the elements on Thursday with transparent shelters lining the docks close to the Cottage pub in Hotwells.

Hosted by Stephen Mangan, Landscape Artist of the Year is judged by award-winning artist Tai Shan Schierenberg, independent curator Kathleen Soriano and art historian Kate Bryan.

This is the prgramme’s 10th iteration, returning after topping off the previous series’ final in Covent Garden with judges crowning contestant Monica Popham as the winner.
