South Bristol Sports Centre celebrates first anniversary

By Jack Wilkinson  Monday Jun 19, 2017

South Bristol Sports Centre marked one year since its opening by hosting a special five-a-side football tournament.

As well as commemorating the centre’s one year anniversary, the event also celebrated the facility’s ongoing close relationship with Bristol City Football Club.

The tournament was won by a Bristol City ‘legends’ side, which featured the mayor of Bristol Marvin Rees, ITV presenter Alex Beresford, Sutton United’s Kevin Amankwaah and former City defenders Danny Coles and Aaron Brown.

Although they lost their first two group games, the legends team rallied to finish top of the pile, fighting off competition from local sides to claim the impressive trophy.

Ben Ferris, general manager at South Bristol Sports Centre, thanked the teams for taking part and added: “A large number of teams have joined our weekly leagues as a result so we look forward to seeing them again soon.”
