David Lindo, known as the Urban Birder, will investigate the science behind the city birds and their habitats for the BBC Two show.
Rosemary Edwards, series editor for BBC Two’s Springwatch, said “This year Springwatch is delighted to put cameras in at least three urban settings in the heart of Bristol, helping celebrate the city’s year as European Green Capital.
“Not only will they reflect many of our viewers’ homes and communities, but help us discover the array of wildlife that comes right up to our doorsteps.”
Live footage will be streamed onto BBC Springwatch and onto the big screen from May 25.
Viewers will be able to watch swifts nesting in a residential setting in Stoke Bishop, lesser black backed gulls nesting on a Bristol University building and a bird-feeder that is attracting long-tailed tits and jackdaws in Clifton.
