Staff left traumatised after popular restaurant vandalised
Staff at a popular Korean restaurant say they have been left “traumatised” after it was vandalised on Friday evening.
Wizzy Chung, the owner of Sky Kong Kong located in the Haymarket in the Bearpit, took to social media on Saturday to voice her anger and sadness at the situation.
Posting on Instagram, she said: “A drunken, drugged homeless person walked in and assaulted us and smashed our things.”

She added that staff tried to call for help but “people stood outside and watched” and “no-one helped”
“Two women were in trouble in an obviously bad situation,” she said.
“It’s disgusting, ignore helping people who need help. Its broken society, lacking community spirit. It’s a shame.

“I will support homeless people,” she added. “I will cook for them and give 100 portions of food every week. I will organise street food every month. I will organise 24 hours for anti drug and anti social behaviour.
“I will support social issues, I will speak around, I will sell our cookbook, and kimchi, and raise money for community work. If you ignore it, our community is failing.
“I love Bristol. Let’s do something together. Loving Bristol citizens.”
Wizzy later posted a photo in A&E, after receiving head injuries from the incident.
A spokesperson for Avon and Somerset police said: “We were called to attend an incident at a business in the Haymarket area of Bristol at about 6.15pm on Friday.
“A man had gone into the premises and assaulted people, as well as causing damage.
“Officers attended and a 55-year-old man was arrested in connection with this incident. He’s been interviewed and released on conditional bail so further enquiries can be carried out.”
The owner and chef has received an outpouring of support after posting photos of the incident on social media, including from other local hospitality businesses who have offered help and support.
It’s not the first time Wizzy’s restaurant has been targeted by vandals. In August last year, plant pots she had placed outside the restaurant growing herbs and vegetables to use in the restaurant kitchen were turned over and emptied, destroying all the produce she had been growing.
