Surfing lake closer to reality
We could all soon be putting on our boardies and heading to a village in South Gloucestershire after revised designs for an inland surfing lake were approved.
Preparation work can now begin on the site of The Wave in Easter Compton near Almondsbury.
The Wave hopes to offer three surf zones and a high performance surf centre for elite athletes and aspiring professionals.

Changing to new wave-making technology meant that The Wave had to revise all of their engineering design work.
A spokesman said: “The changes were substantial enough to necessitate an amendment to planning. Although we were confident that the improvements would be well received, it’s always a slightly nail-biting wait until you know it’s been successful!”
