The Wave to reopen at the beginning of August
The Wave will reopen in August, following new Government guidance.
The inland surfing lake, the first of its kind in the South West, had to close when lockdown came into force at the end of March 2020.
After opening in November 2019, the team at the attraction has said that having to close just before their first peak season was “gutting”, but that announcing the Wave’s reopening in “properly exciting”.

Reopening on August 1, the attraction will closely follow the latest Government guidelines.
Social distancing will be enforced, with pre-booking essential, there will be a one-way system, frequent cleaning, and hand sanitiser available across the site.
“We have been closely following Government guidance and developing a new way of working which will allow us to safely welcome people back to ride our waves,” says founder Nick Hounsfield. “We are currently bringing our brilliant team off furlough and are all working hard to get ready for a summer of surfing.”

From August 1, surf slots will available from 7am to 8pm. Beginner lessons will be limited to five people per coach to adhere to social distancing guidelines.
More paths and green spaces have been opened, as well as distanced seating. There will also be popup food outlets across the site.
“The Wave is not just about surfing,” says Nick. “It’s about sharing incredible experiences in a naturally healthy space. It’s about improving health and wellbeing, helping people feel like the best version of themselves and having a shedload of fun along the way.”
