There will forever be a piece of Liz Truss in Bristol
When she was still known as Elizabeth Truss, the woman likely to become our next prime minister visited Bristol to plant a tree.
Not just any tree. This oak marked one million trees being planted across the UK as part of a government tree-planting campaign, the Big Tree Plant.
Then environment secretary, Truss was joined in Eastville Park on February 5 2015 by Bristol mayor George Ferguson and children from Glenfrome Primary School who were planting their own trees as part of the project.

The ceremony was gatecrashed by protesters who were fighting to save mature trees which were due to be chopped down to make way for the metrobus project.
Campaigners including former mayoral candidate Paul Saville asked why a celebration of trees being planted was taking place at the same time as existing trees were due to be chopped down in nearby Stapleton.
One protester, Belinda Faulkes from the Rising Up Campaign, said that Truss refused to accept anything from her and Ferguson “was clearly annoyed” with their presence.
