Travellers set up camp on the Downs

A group of French-speaking travellers have set up home on the Downs.

The camp consisting of several families situated next to the White Tree roundabout is made up of mostly caravans and some 4×4 vehicles.

A member of the group told Bristol24/7 that they were on holiday. They would not reveal how long they planned to remain in place.

They are only the latest group of travellers to move into Bristol, following other groups on Horfield Common and land owned by UWE in Frenchay.
