Two Bristol museums close early for 2022 due to staff shortages
Both the Red Lodge and the Georgian House museums have now closed for 2022 due to staff shortages.
In a statement on the Bristol Museums website, it says that bosses have “regretfully” taken the decision to close the museums – two jewels of Bristol’s heritage – earlier than usual.
It comes nine months after Friends of Bristol Museums, Galleries and Archives warned that council cuts of £436,000 for the museums and archives service would “dramatically reduce their ability to function”.
is needed now More than ever
The statement on both the Red Lodge and Georgian House pages of the Bristol Museums website says: “Regretfully we have taken the decision to close The Georgian House Museum and The Red Lodge Museum early this year, due to staff shortages.
“Staff will be working behind the scenes to maintain the building and to ready it for opening once more in April 2023.”
