Murder inquiry launched after woman dies in St Paul’s

Two people have been arrested on suspicion of murder after a woman died from serious stab wounds at a home in St Paul’s.

Police were called to Ludlow Close at around 12.30am in the early hours of Tuesday morning following reports of a disturbance.

The 27-year-old victim was found inside the property with serious stab wounds and died at the scene, despite the best efforts by officers and paramedics.

Police confirmed her death is being treated as murder and a 37-year-old man and 27-year-old woman have been arrested.

The area around the block of flats in Ludlow Close remained cordoned off throughout Tuesday while forensics teams worked at the scene and conducted searches of the neighbourhood.

Police patrol presence was increased on the streets in a bid to reassure residents and specialist family liaison officers will be supporting the victim’s family.

The incident has also been referred to the Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC) because of previous police contact – a force spokesperson said this is standard procedure in these circumstances.

Police are appealing for information from anyone who saw or heard anything suspicious in the Ludlow Close area prior to the murder. Call 101 and give the crime reference number 5217191693 to pass on any information that might help.
