Venezuelans in Bristol protest election ‘fraud’
Venezuelans in Bristol came together to protest against the electoral fraud that took place in the south American country in July.
They gathered by the Cenotaph draped in their country’s yellow, blue and red flag.
Protesters urged passers-by to learn more about the current situation in Venezuela, to support them in spreading the news of what is happening and to write to their MP to denounce the electoral outcome that does not represent the will of the Venezuelan people.

The International Federation for Human Rights (FIDH) says they “strongly condemn the irregularities committed and the lack of transparency” during Venezuela’s presidential election on July 28.
Ruling dictator Nicolás Maduro was returned to power despite the opposition led by Edmundo González Urrutia
and Maria Corina Machado likely winning the most votes.
FIDH and their partners “condemn the escalating repression by the government and its security forces against demonstrators, which has resulted in dozens of deaths, arbitrary detentions and “disappearances” caused by escalating police violence.
“The Venezuelan electoral process, characterised by an absence of transparency and safeguards, lacks democratic legitimacy,” FIDH adds.
