We The Curious to reopen in July
After being closed for more than 800 days, We The Curious will finally reopen to the public in July – just in time for the summer holidays.
The science centre and educational charity on Millennium Square has been closed to the public since suffering a serious fire on its roof in 2022.
As work continues behind the scenes, its reopening date has now been confirmed as July 2 with a celebration event planned for Saturday, July 6.

We The Curious CEO, Donna Speed, said: “We’re so excited to be able to announce our opening date this summer.
“The support we’ve had from our city has been incredible, so a huge thank you to everyone who’s continued to encourage us throughout the last two years. It really does mean a lot.”

We The Curious visitors and staff have been sharing what they are looking forward to most when they walk back through the doors.
Seven-year-olds Poppy and Ada are looking forward to playing with the bubbles again, nine-year-old Lois’ favourite hands-on exhibit is the spinning sand, while communications lead Jen will be heading straight back to the planetarium to whizz through the rings of Saturn.
Speed added: “It’s beyond heart-warming to hear how special We The Curious is to so many and the fondness they hold for it, and also how people who haven’t visited before are itching to experience everything on offer.
“We can’t wait to welcome you back very soon, and see the venue filled with joy and energy again!”
