Board gaming convention to visit Bristol in Feb 2018
Bristol will host a whole weekend of board gaming in February 2018, as part of three-day gaming convention The City of Games.
Promising the chance to try out hundreds of games, the event is being run by Frank West and Sara Jorge who are the team behind The City of Kings, alongside big names in the local gaming scene including Area 51, Puzzlair, Chance & Counters and Auroch Digital.
Tournaments in all sorts of different games will take place across the weekend, pitched at all levels, and on Saturday an immersive live-action role-play Mega Game will take place, with players divided into teams and tested on their ability to influence others. Other highlights include game demos from Paul Grogan, including a first look at some new prototypes, and No Pun Included filming new reviews.

Stokes Croft-based Auroch Digital will also be running a Board Game Jam, setting conference-goers the challenge to create a board game from scratch within 24-hours. Working in small teams, they’ll be given their brief at 11am on Saturday, and will then present the resulting games to a panel of judges, including luminaries of the industry, from 11am on Sunday.
The City of Games takes place from Friday, February 9 2018 – Sunday, February 11 2018. Tickets for Saturday and Sunday are sold out, but a small number remain for Friday, the Mega Game and the Board Game Jam.
