Work to restart soon at infamous stalled housing development
The sign “coming soon” could yet be a reality at a stalled housing development with work now due to resume in September.
Work at the Boat Yard has remained unfinished since builders Mid Group collapsed into administration back in July 2022.
In April 2021, the Boatyard received a visit from prime minister Keir Starmer when he was leader of the opposition, where he was shown around the site by former Bristol mayor Marvin Rees to demonstrate Bristol’s solution to the growing housing crisis.
is needed now More than ever
The unfinished development on Bath Road in Totterdown was taken over by the London-based developer Latimer and is about to press ahead with the development despite the fears raised about possible landslips.

The development promises to deliver 152 flats in Totterdown where the project is expected to finish by the beginning of 2026 at the earliest.
Speaking to the Bristol Post, a spokesperson for Latimer said: “We are pleased to have made significant progress in finalising the remaining design plans for our Bath Road development, and our main contractor is set to begin work in September.
“As the development arm of a social housing landlord, our commitment to ensuring long-term quality for residents requires a careful approach to managing this complex project.
“Our teams are focused on a safe and compliant restart of construction, and we remain dedicated to delivering a development that will provide lasting benefits for the Bristol community.”
