My Bristol Favourites: Larkin Cen
Larkin Cen is the owner of Woky Ko in Cargo, which recently celebrated it first birthday and which will soon be opening a second restaurant on Queen’s Road in Clifton. Larkin worked as an employment and HR solicitor before making it to the MasterChef finals in 2013.
Here are Larkin’s top-five Bristol favourites:
St Nick’s Market
is needed now More than ever

“When I get a break in my day at Woky Ko, I’ll take a wander over to St Nicholas Market. I really like being in the market environment and around all the aromas of such a variety of cuisines under one roof. It has an incredible atmosphere and that community pull that we also have down at Wapping Wharf. My food of choice would be a kebab from Matina, or maybe falafel from Eat A Pitta.”
Chandos Road
“We are spoiled for choice in Bristol when it comes to quality places to dine out and Chandos Road in Redland keeps me coming back for its talented chefs with amazing pedigrees. Wilks, Wilsons and No Man’s Grace are all within a few paces of each other and then just round the corner is The Kensington Arms. In a way the street has become a destination of its own and that’s amazing.”
Walking across the Clifton Suspension Bridge

“After taking in the view of the Avon Gorge with a pint on the terrace at the White Lion, I love to walk across the Suspension Bridge to Ashton Court or Leigh Woods. Walking rather than driving over the bridge never loses its magic.”
The General
“I love our Cargo community and what has been created down at Wapping Wharf. There is happily a whole other regenerated area round the corner at The General which I love spending time at too. An alfresco pizza at Pi Shop or sherry and tapas at Paco Tapas looking over the Bathurst Basin is a happy place.”
Chew Valley

The garden of the Pony & Trap
“I live near Gloucester Road which is an area of Bristol that I love, and truth be told I am a bit of a city boy. But any time I can get out to the countryside is time well spent. Chew Valley is a favourite spot for Sunday lunch at The Pony & Trap overlooking the green fields followed by a walk around the lake into the woods, navigating around the trails. By then it’s time to get back to work…”
