These are Emma’s top-five Bristol favourites:
Tobacco Factory Sunday Market

“You can’t beat a Sunday mooch around the Tobacco Factory Sunday Market. Not only can you pick up some great gifts, there are many lunch options and sweet treats. A personal favourite of mine is a cheese toastie from For Mice & Men. If you haven’t tried one before, it’s a must!”
Bristol Hippodrome

Bristol Hippodrome was designed by renowned theatre architect, Frank Matcham, and opened in 1912 – photo: ATG
“We’re so lucky in our city to have access to so many amazing shows at the Bristol Hippodrome. In the last few months, I’ve seen Hamilton, Aladdin and Come From Away. I recently attended a tour of the Hippodrome with the Bristol Junior Chamber, and it was fascinating to learn more about the history and brilliant anecdotes from over the years. I was amazed to learn that in one of the first shows they purpose-built a tank for dancing horses that held 100,000 gallons of water!”
Cliftonwood’s colourful houses

“I live in Southville and you can’t beat the views of the colourful houses, whether that’s when you walk over Vauxhall Bridge or are at the top of Southville on Stackpool Road. It brings me so much joy and really is one of the many iconic views of Bristol.”
Bristol Balloon Fiesta
“How could anyone not love the Balloon Fiesta weekend? Whether it’s seeing the spectacular night glow at the Fiesta site in Ashton Court, or being by the harbour or Perrett Park for a mass ascent. This year, it was even more special to attend on behalf of the BJC who proudly co-founded the Balloon Fiesta in 1979, so it’s even more special these days!”
Swoon

Emma says Swoon makes the best gelato this side of Italy – photo: Swoon
“Whenever I have friends, family, or colleagues visit I always take them to Swoon on College Green or at Wapping Wharf and promise the best gelato you’ll have outside of Italy. I’ve not had anyone disagree with me yet. I can eat their gelato all year round!”
