My Bristol Favourites: Fabio Ferri
Musician, composer and mathematician Fabio Ferri has been described by Headfirst as “Bristol’s answer to Frank Zappa”.
On July 11 at St Stephen’s Church, he is putting on a unique evening featuring improvised live music from his own quintet and 30 Circles, an art exhibition of works that have been synesthetically produced from previous performances, more art made on the spot, and a dancer interpreting the music with movement.

These are Fabio’s top-five Bristol favourites:
Troopers Hill

“Troopers Hill is my favourite running spot in Bristol. Its landscape and colours remind me of my trips to Scotland. And it has the best view over the south of the city.”
Panorama Walk

Located on the high cliffs overlooking the River Avon, Panorama Walk was opened in 1957 by Tony Benn when he was MP for Bristol South East – photo: Neil Owen / Geograph
“Another favourite running spot of mine, Panorama Walk is located near Conham within Avon Valley Woodlands nature reserve. It’s incredible to have such a view while still being so close to Bristol! In my opinion, it’s just as dramatic as the view you get from the Suspension Bridge.”
Stokes Croft

“Stokes Croft is the creative hotspot in Bristol, with a huge concentration of venues, musicians and artists. I end up being in the area several times a week.”
Licata

Licata is one of Bristol’s oldest shops, having been trading since 1959 – photo: Martin Booth
“It took me too long before discovering this Italian deli in Montpelier. Licata on Picton Street has great products and prices! If you’re planning to cook a carbonara, avoid bacon and head there to get some proper guanciale. It also has a great selection of cheese, pasta sauces, Italian brands of biscuits (I’m nostalgic) and much more!”
Royal York Crescent

“I love Royal York Crescent in Clifton Village with its Georgian buildings and the view from it. Whenever someone visits me, a trip here is a must!”
