My Bristol Favourites: Jen Reid
Jen Reid found global fame following the toppling of Edward Colston’s statue when she climbed on top of the empty plinth and gave a Black Power salute, which was later recreated itself as a statue.
The events of June 7 2020 are the subject of Jen’s new picture book, A Hero Like Me, written with Angela Joy and illustrated by Leire Salaberria.
The book “champions the power of protest, social justice, and the right for children to see themselves in the heroes and monuments depicted in their communities”.
