These are Mogali’s Bristol favourites:
is needed now More than ever
St Nick’s Market

“In the few weeks that I’ve been in Bristol I have however fallen fully in love with St Nicholas Market. I wandered over there after my second meeting with Travelling Light and found everything I needed to make me feel at home: great food, a bustling market and that feeling you get in market places of being away and welcome all at the same time. Kalahari Moon is a shop that sells Southern African food and goodies there. A complete win!”
St Patrick’s Church charity shop

“I was rehearsing nearby and happened to wander in cos I love a charity shop! St Patrick’s charity shop is a treasure trove of quality products and wonderful people from all walks of life. I saw a dad negotiate toy purchase budget with his daughter in one end of the shop while a lady was clearly stocking up on winter clothes for her family. And then there was me, shopping for baking pans.”
St George Park

Mogali describes St George Park as being like something out of ‘A Secret Garden’ – photo: Martin Booth
“Of all the things I’m loving about Bristol, it has to be the green spaces. There are two parks in particular that I find soothing: St George Park which is tucked away off Church Road like a treasure you’d find in A Secret Garden; and Brandon Hill, which is so close to the harbour. I’ve walked each one for hours that I don’t have, getting lost in so much green that I forget I’m in the middle of a city.”
The Floating Harbour
“I never thought of myself as a water person, but the houses of Cliftonwood rising from the banks of the harbour as it snakes its way through the city are stunning. And the boats, occasional insistent seagull and silence of the water are strangely soothing. I say strange because being eyeballed by a seagull as I eat lunch shouldn’t be something that makes me smile.”
