These are Sarah’s top-five Bristol favourites:
The Downs

What we know as the Downs today is made up of Durdham Down to the north and east, owned by Bristol City Council; and Clifton Down to the south which is owned by the Society of Merchant Venturers – photo: Martin Booth
“I’m here every morning with my dog, rain or shine, and I wouldn’t have it any other way. There’s something extraordinary about catching those first rays of sunlight breaking through while we wander across this huge open space. It feels like stepping into the countryside – it makes my mornings complete.”
Burra

Burra opened on Lower Redland Road in 2021 – photo: Burra
“I’m properly obsessed with good coffee and Burra in Redland has completely spoiled me for anywhere else. The team there feels like old friends now, and they know exactly how I like my coffee.”
Wild Oats

From groceries to freshly baked goods, this little store in Redland has everything – photo: Karen Johnson
“I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve popped into Wild Oats on Lower Redland Road after my coffee run next door at Burra. This isn’t just any health food shop – it’s a treasure trove of everything good for you, and I’m always discovering something new to try.”
Chandos Road

“This little street has totally stolen my heart. It’s got this amazing feel about it and I usually bump into someone I know. Between the incredible restaurants, lovely shops and brilliant bakeries, it really is like a village right in the middle of the city.”
Lover’s Walk

Part of Lover’s Walk runs over the railway tracks next to Redland station – photo: Karen Johnson
“The name itself makes me smile, but it’s that little white bridge over Redland Green station that gets me every time. Something about walking across to the park, with the trees and lights, just feels magical. I often find myself pausing in the middle, taking in the view. There’s something truly special about this spot.”
