My Bristol Favourites: Seb Choudhury
Seb Choudhury is the new presenter of Inside Out West that returns to BBC One on September 5. Seb trained as a newspaper reporter and made the leap into radio in the late 1990s, working at BBC 5live and various local radio stations around the UK. In 2005 he got a three-month contract at Points West and has never left. Now, as the new presenter of Inside Out West, he is looking forward to bringing local stories that matter to Bristol and the West Country.
Here are Seb’s top-five Bristol favourites:
Whiteladies Road
is needed now More than ever
“This is a bit of a sentimental place for me. I used to visit Bristol when I was young with my parents, and always loved this road. The people looked friendly and the bars looked cool. Also, I loved the BBC Broadcasting House and always wanted to go inside. It’s a great building with a lot of history. I am very privileged to call it my place of work.”
Harbourside
“It’s just a beautiful place to visit at any time of the year. I love the atmosphere and the sounds of this amazing part of the city.”
Stapleton Road
“I remember coming here with my parents when I was 12. No visit to Bristol was ever complete without a trip around the shops at Stapleton Road. My mother picked up all her spices and ingredients for her phenomenal dishes. I still bring her here now, all the way from Gloucestershire.”
Colston Hall
“I’ve only ever been a few times, but each experience has been better than the last. It’s a great space to hear live music.”
Southmead Hospital
“A strange one, I know. But this is the place where I donated my kidney to my mother to keep her alive. Without the amazing surgeons and caring staff she wouldn’t be here today. A very special team. Thank you.”
