These are Tay’s top-five Bristol favourites:
Afghan Tasty Corner

“Amazing veggie food that is really authentic and hits the spot when I’m homesick! Afghan Tasty Corner on Oxford Place in Easton has a really welcoming atmosphere with pay-as-you-feel prices. Khano – the manager/chef? – is so welcoming and always up for a friendly conversation. There are monthly jam nights too!”
The Factory
“The Factory from Knowle West Media Centre is an amazing makerspace with everything from embroidery machines laser cutters and 3D printers. The technicians are so knowledgeable and it’s amazing to be in a space with creative people making different things to learn and be inspired.”
Ahh Toots

“I couldn’t not have a bakery in my Bristol favourites; I am an absolute fiend for pastry! Ahh Toots has gotten way too much of my money over the years. They have a tiny shop at the bottom of Christmas Steps but it’s an Aladdin’s cave of baked goods. They do some of the best cakes I’ve ever had.”
Grow Wilder
“Grow Wilder on Frenchay Park Road is a beautiful wildflower nursery site run by Avon Wildlife Trust. Of course, I’m a bit biased but it really is my favourite green space in Bristol. It’s really easy to get to on the bus, with beautiful habitats to explore, ponds full of wildlife, open market days where you can pick your own veg, and the wildflower nursery to peruse. There is nowhere else in the city where you can sit and learn the most random facts about solitary bees while having your lunch with volunteers. Grow Wilder has always got people around on site which makes for a lovely atmosphere.”
Radical Roasters

“Radical Roasters on St Mark’s Road in Easton is a bit of a gem for me when I want to catch up with friends or spend time working not from home. The cafe-roastery is relaxed and down to earth, the coffee is all freshly ground and there are amazing sweet treats. They have always got great works by local artists for sale and the zine vending machine is a must – such a fun peruse. For me, the vegan sausage and hash brown butties are a winner every time!”
