My Bristol Favourites: Tim Kazer

By Milan Perera  Friday Aug 30, 2024

Tim Kazer is the lyricist and vocalist of the Bristol-based indie-rock quartet, The Bedside Morale.

The band has recently released their debut EP, Still Life. While the band have been creating music together under different monikers for a decade now, The Bedside Morale seems to have found them at their most honest, raw and authentic in their self expression.

Describing what he was hoping to achieve with the EP, Tim said: “I’m trying to write more that matters to me, lyrics that I can deliver from my chest. For this EP I wanted to write songs that reflect life, or some aspect of it.”

These are Tim’s top-five Bristol favourites:

The Mothers’ Ruin

“If I’m on a stage which doesn’t really fit the band and people are on multiple sides then I’m happy. The Mothers’ Ruin is a perfect venue and Bar. I knew I loved it from the second I walked in. Plus the book case is honestly iconic.”

The Old England

“It’s one of those hidden gems and always has such a good crowd,” said Alex

“I think there’ll be a very quick theme developing here, The Old E is an incredible DIY venue tucked away in Montpelier. It’s one of those hidden gems and always has such a good crowd. The sound is great and there’s something about pillars in awkward places that I just adore.”

“Maybe my favourite thing in Bristol. It is straight out of The Haunting of Hill House. Who’s not going to be excited by a metal staircase into the depths of a venue? It’s also very funny that it’s so narrow you can only have people going up or down. Massively inconvenient but beautiful nonetheless.”

Tiffin Time

“I don’t actually know if this exists at all anymore but it used to be just down the road from The Exchange. Under £10 for a meaty or a veggie box and three sides all home made that day? It was great and delicious and the perfect lunchtime treat.”

Glitch Studio

“I went there mid way through an all day festival at The Exchange and got a beautiful flower vase tattoo from @nic.n.poke. Great day, great place, great atmosphere.”
