Rees and Olusoga named among UK’s most influential black people

Bristol’s mayor has joined royalty, politicians and footballers in the top 100 most influential black Britons.

The annual Powerlist, topped by businessman Ismail Ahmed, also includes a Bristol-based historian and television presenter.

Marvin Rees and David Olusoga join the like of the Duchess of Sussex, Formula One world champion Lewis Hamilton, actor Idris Elba, footballer Raheem Sterling and boxer Anthony Joshua in the annual list which recognises those who have changed lives or are making a huge difference.

While Rees is preparing for the Bristol mayoral elections in 2020, Olusoga will be back on the small screen next year with A House Through Time on BBC Two – which in its third series will feature a house in Bristol thought to be in Redcliffe.
