Starter for 10: Garvan Hickey
Garvan is the co-owner of the Draper’s Arms, a micropub in Bishopston. It was recently voted CAMRA Bristol and District Branch’s Pub of the Year, an accolade that Garvan and partner-in-crime Vince are chuffed about.
“It’s recognition that the 3000 members of CAMRA in the area think that we’re the very best,” Garvan says, standing in the tiny, single-roomed pub that shuns all electronics – even amplified music.
“We’re committed 100% to the quality and range of our cask ale, which we serve on stillage. We wanted to open a place that we’d like to drink in, and it’s been going very well so far. We say we’re either brilliant businessmen, dead lucky or terrible at planning.”
