Women in STEM

By Connie Reeves  Thursday Jan 18, 2018

This year, as part of the centenary of women’s suffrage celebrations and the year of engineering, Bristol24/7 will host a programme of debate, events and editorial spotlighting women in STEM.

To launch the programme in June we will host a panel discussion focusing on women in STEM. We are planning a programme of speakers including experts from a range of local companies and institutions in Bristol.

The core of the women in STEM programme will be in the form of editorial content across Bristol24/7 channels, including our printed publication, website and social media. Inviting key people from across professional sectors and institutions to open a dialog surrounding women in STEM and diversity in the workplace. Bristol24/7 will work closely with UWE Bristol, The University of Bristol and The Cabot learning Federation with the aim to take our contributors into schools to aims to engage and inspire young people to look at carries in STEM.

Keep our city's journalism independent.

Bristol24/7 is proud to support a new and updated version of the highly acclaimed play ‘An audience with Sarah Guppy’ by Show of Strenght theatre company. Sarah Guppy was the 18th century Bristol woman who inspired and mentored Isambard Kingdom Brunel; dared to criticise Thomas Telford; and whose own engineering work inventions and designs were years ahead of her time and deserve to be better known.
