‘My work experience with Bristol24/7 was the perfect opportunity’
I have always been interested in journalism and I knew that work experience with Bristol24/7 would be the perfect opportunity for me to learn more about it.
During my week with Bristol24/7, I was able to write articles, go out for interviews and also learn more about my community. I learned what it takes to be a journalist; the integrity that you need and also the confidence.
Writing my first ever published article was daunting but also wonderful. I also interviewed a Japanese chef, and some of the cast and crew of Disney’s Beauty and the Beast at the Hippodrome.
is needed now More than ever
I learned how to interview people and how to write articles, and realised that journalism never sleeps!
There is always something more to report, you just need to look hard and then you’ll see it, wherever that’s in your community or in the world.
This week has showed me that journalism can in fact be anything.
After working for Bristol24/7, I saw all of the effort that goes on behind the scenes and realised that Bristol24/7 is far more than just a website. It’s always doing something and that’s what I loved being part of.
Journalism is hard but it can also be so much fun. Journalism is now most definitely more of a career opportunity for me after my week of work experience with Bristol24/7.
