‘We must all come together to help lessen the impact on the NHS’
Following the Prime Minister’s announcement earlier this week regarding much tougher restrictions on people to stop the spread of Covid-19 in the UK, we must all come together to help lessen the impact on the NHS and protect the most vulnerable in our communities.
I cannot stress enough how important it is that we observe these new measures and, although it might feel strange and we’ve had to make changes to our everyday lives, these changes will help minimise the impact of the virus and protect our NHS.

Understandably, many of us are feeling concerned and anxious about the weeks and months ahead and I want to reassure you that I have complete faith that Avon and Somerset Police will be able to deal with the challenges that come along.
I have heard and seen wonderful stories of people and organisations coming together to support each other during these unprecedented times. A crisis always brings out the best in people and we need to ensure we are doing what we can within the government restrictions to help each other get through this challenging period.
By working together, we can ensure that our country is in the best possible position to deal with this global pandemic. My office is working in partnership with Avon and Somerset Police, local health agencies and other partners to ensure we are in the best position to respond to the virus.
Finally, thank you. Thank you to the police officers, colleagues and volunteers who are on the frontline; to the NHS doctors, nurses and staff who are working around the clock to save lives; and to the key workers whose invaluable work is helping support local people and communities.
I am your voice in policing and if you have any questions, concerns or queries about Avon and Somerset Police and the coronavirus, please do not hesitate to tweet me (@AandSPCC), Facebook me (AandSPCC) or email me via pcc@avonandsomerset.police.uk.
